STORY OF A HOUSE AND HOME
The house was owned by just one family up until the point that Leesa bought it in 2022. The last owner was Madame Henriette Becq (1925 – 2022) who lived there with her husband and three children. Her son Henri was a renowned furniture designer. She is now buried in the church graveyard that overlooks the house but Leesa was lucky enough to meet her in person before she passed away. Leesa promised Mme Becq that she would keep the essence of the house alive and respect its history. We feel that she was happy that Leesa and her family would love the house as her family did.
Madame Becq was born Henriette Trecul, her father Henri was a soldier in WW1 and is also buried in the graveyard next to the house alongside his brother, both wives and parents.
Henriette’s grandmother was awarded the Medaille de Bronze de la famille a decoration awarded by the french government to honour those who have successfully raised several children with dignity.
The family were landowners and owned other properties within the village. Several were also town mayor. over the years.
The house is a real piece of French history and any visitors are welcome to see some of the beautiful artefacts and photos that remain here.
