Over the Christmas period I’ve been happily busy creating new workshops I’m really excited about. In 2026 I’ll be hosting not only my full week summer art retreats and holidays but also eight creative workshops in the first 6 months of 2026 here at the Maison du Fort in Lot-et-Garonne, South West France, and I can’t wait to get them going. Reflecting back on my first year of art retreats and classes in France, I have a greater understanding of how special art and new connections are with people where ever you are based, but particularly for myself in a new venture and new country it is so important in life to make new friends and keep the brain going learning a new skill. The new people I have met this year at art classes, workshops and hosting retreats for other art teachers has been amazing and very fulfilling.

Mindfulness, Self-Care and Creativity
At the heart of these workshops is the idea that art can be a form of mindfulness. Being creative helps us slow down, switch off from busy minds and screens, and reconnect with ourselves.
These mindful art classes are about enjoying the moment, feeling supported and finding calm through creativity. Sharing that experience with others often leads to lovely conversations, laughter and new friendships — usually over cake.
A Relaxed Creative Space in Lot-et-Garonne
One of the things I love most about these workshops is the setting. I’m opening my home, creative studio and garden to welcome people who want to explore creativity in a calm, friendly environment.
The Manoir is surrounded by the beautiful countryside of South West France and many people say they feel more relaxed as soon as they arrive. It’s the perfect backdrop for mindful art workshops and gentle learning without pressure or expectations.
For local people we are just 20 minutes from Eymet. It’s easy to reach while still feeling like a real escape. With Bergerac, Bordeaux and Toulouse airports nearby, we are closer to you than you think!

Art Workshops for Beginners & Improvers – So What’s Included?
From February to May 2026, there will be two workshops each month, making a total of eight small-group creative workshops.
Each session lasts three hours and includes everything you need to relax and enjoy the experience:
- Full creative tuition
- All art materials provided
- A welcoming, mindful atmosphere
- Homemade cake and refreshments for inspiration
These are not rushed art classes. They’re designed as creative wellbeing workshops, where you can take your time, ask questions, and enjoy the process. You don’t need any previous experience to join. They are suitable for:
- Complete beginners who want to try something new
- Improvers looking to refresh or expand their skills
- Creatives wanting fresh inspiration
- Anyone curious about self-care through creativity
A big part of my work is helping people realise they can be creative. There’s no pressure to be perfect — just space to explore, learn, and enjoy.

Sharing My Creative Home and Community
Opening my home and studio feels personal, and that’s exactly how I want these workshops to feel — warm, welcoming, and human. Creativity has a wonderful way of bringing people together, and I love creating a space where that can happen naturally. The groups who have visited this year have continued their friendships and support of each others projects through our Whats app community and now have new friendships round the world. This makes me very happy to have had a gentle hand in this, especially with the lovely solo travellers who stayed with us. Our workshops are as much about connection as they are about learning new skills.
My next blog will all be about justing staying here with a group of friends, girls weekend or family for a long weekend break or BnB stay on your road trip – its not all about art – the house is so beautiful and to share with visitors is a blessing.
Looking Ahead to Creative Workshops and Retreats in 2026
I’m genuinely excited to welcome new people into my creative space in 2026 and to share what I’ve been working on. If you’re looking for a creative holiday, vacation or getaway in South West France that combines art, mindfulness, self-care and community, I’d love you to join us.
Places are limited to keep the workshops relaxed and personal, so take a look at the dates and see what feels right for you.
